NFL Draft - BigDahm Picks - Round Two
Information sourced from: DLP Consensus Big Board, NFL Mock Draft DB, RAS, ESPN
Well we ran the pick in the last round after a trade down scenario and selected Max Iheanachor Offensive Tackle out of Arizona State. I have recently been seeing him go earlier in mock drafts, and that makes me feel even better about this move. If you could get down to the end of the first round and snag him it’s a true value pick, but also a solid upgrade at the RT spot. I don’t see the downside here if you can find a partner to trade down with. Perhaps picking up a third round pick, which the Lions currently lack.
With the Lions 2nd Round Pick, I Select Derrick Moore, EDGE/Defensive End Michigan.
Derrick Moore is a powerful player who can set the edge and play the run (perhaps not his top skill but with Wonnum being the inverse of Derrick in that regard, the pairing makes sense). He is a solid player who may start day 1, but likely ends up splitting time with Wonnum as he gets up to NFL standard.
Now the disruption is what I am getting after with Moore. He had ten sacks and three pass deflections in 2025. This shows a solid player who is disrupting the QB even when he is not getting to him. This is the type of player that you pair with Aiden Hutchinson and watch them destroy the opposing backfield, forcing the QB to throw early and often.
While his RAS is not elite, I don’t think it has to be in this situation.
Keep in mind that we don’t have agility or speed on him, so that makes it so we can’t calculate a true RAS. However, we can see he is fairly explosive with his broad jump. Raw power, some explosiveness, getting home to the qb, batting at balls, and playing the run in a passable fashion: these are all quality traits. I feel he could be a really good pick and value once again in the second round.
Finally, it would be kind of a cool story to have two Wolverines at the edge position. No matter if you are a State fan or a Michigan fan, I think we can all appreciate this. Perhaps it’s the novelty about it that really makes it worth it.
I am not saying this is what the Lions will do, but I can hope that they do something like this. Not only have they added two great values in the draft, but they have filled two large holes on the depth chart and immediately improved the secondary as they will not have to cover for quite so long. I would run this pick in as well.
Heading into the third (which they may have a pick at this point), they can now start to focus further on the best player available philosophy. Do we need another safety? Sure, but Brad has found them all over the draft. He will get a safety where it makes sense for the talent level and the value. Now he is free to move around more and get after “their guys”.
