Position by Position: WR

Well, here we are at my favorite position on the team, the wide receivers. My first receiver I really followed from prospect to draft to the Lions was Kenny Golladay. I’ve been hooked ever since. I know they are the flashy playmakers, but what truly captures me most about them is how variable success looks at wide receivers. The traits are all over the board, from body control receivers who box out corners, to vertical threats who can touch the moon, to slim speedsters who leave everyone in their dust: Receivers are just a blast to watch. That all said, let’s dig right in.
Amon-Ra St. Brown
23 years old - Under contract through 2028 (2029 voice year) - 33.1 million dollar cap hit in 2026
Amon-Ra St. Brown is truly a privilege to watch every time he plays. He can do so many things well. Need him to run a post route? Check. Crossers? Check. Need him to run from the backfield? Check. How about grabbing a jump ball? He can do that too! His cap space may seem high, but skill of his kind doesn’t come along often. He is well worth the money. I expect him to continue to produce as long as he stays healthy, and if the past is any indication he should be just fine in that regard.
Amon-Ra produced at a high level in 2025:
117 catches, 1,401 yards, 11 touchdowns, 11.4 yards per catch average
Jameson Williams
24 years old - Under contract through 2029 (2030 void year) - 8.2 million dollar cap hit in 2026
Jameson Williams started his career with the Lions as a speedster gadget player. Initially I questioned if he would work out long term, but now I think I was crazy to ever wonder. He brings a new dimension to the Lions offense that every team MUST respect. If they don’t, they will subsequently be burned. Furthermore his game has become more polished, and with it he has gained the trust of Jared Goff just like Amon-Ra.
Jameson Williams showed that he is well worth his shiny new contract in 2025:
65 catches, 1,117 yards, 7 touchdowns, 17.2 yards per catch average (#1 in the NFL)
Kalif Raymond
31 years old - Unrestricted Free Agent in 2026
Amon Ra is reliable. Jameson is reliable. Kalif? Also reliable. I sense a trend. Kalif has done a lot for the Lions throughout his time with the team. He still boasts top level speed, good muscle mass, and great hands. When I think about the fact that he might not be a Lion next year, it simply bums me out. I know that the team needs to continue to invest in youth, but he has been so consistent for so long. Add in his special teams contributions and even if he isn’t a Lion next year you can count on him being a contributor somewhere.
Kalif Raymond didn’t go nuts in 2025, but he did well when called upon:
24 catches, 289 yards, 1 touchdown, 12.0 yards per catch average
Isaac TeSlaa
23 years old - Under contract through 2028 - 1.5 million dollar cap hit in 2026
I remember talking about TeSlaa before he was drafted, as I watched the 1st round of the 2025 draft with friends at MCBC’s garage. Isaac TeSlaa had an amazing touchdown catch in his first game, and as the year went on improved enough to become a regular part of the offense. He has the athleticism and ball skills to be special. Only time will tell if he is, but it certainly seems that way now.
Isaac had a good start to his career in 2025:
16 catches, 239 yards, 6 touchdowns, 14.9 yards per catch average
Tom Kennedy
29 years old - Restricted Free Agent in 2026
Tom Kennedy has been around the Lions for some time now, and he always seems to stick around. He bounces between the roster and the practice squad, but one thing is always consistent: he produces when called upon. He can play special teams and he can play slot receiver. His athleticism doesn’t jump off the page, but his attention to detail jumps off the screen. For a bottom of the roster receiver he truly knows how to make his presence felt.
Tom had a light year in 2025 (Remember his special teams contributions though):
4 catches, 36 yards, 0 touchdowns, 9.0 yards per catch average
Dominic Lovett and Jackson Meeks
Dominic Lovett is under contract through 2028 with a cap hit of 1.0 million,
Jackson Meeks is under contract through 2026 with a cap hit of 885,000 dollars.
Dominic Lovett and Jackson Meeks were held without a catch in 2025. The Lions seem to believe they both have something special to offer in the future. Look for them to put up a battle in training camp.
Moving Forward
In my perspective, the Lions have a number of needs but Wide Receiver is not one of them. I would prefer they re-sign Kalif Raymond for one more year, but I understand there are only so many roster spots.
