The Lions add depth after the Draft
Information sourced from: https://www.pro-football-reference.com
The Lions made a pair of free agent signings today to further fill out their roster and add to the veteran presences in their locker room.
Firstly, the Lions signed 26 year old Jay Tufele. Tufele joins from the New York Jets where he appeared in twelve games last season, and has started a handful of games between his time with the Bengals, Jaguars, and Jets. He stands 6’3” and weighs 305 pounds. Expect him to compete at the end of the defensive tackle rotation with recently added rookies and veterans such as Myles Adams.
Secondly, they signed 28 year old Joe Bachie. Bachie comes from the Titans where he appeared in ten games last season. He has seven starts and sixty six games played between his time with the Eagles, Bengals, Colts. He stands 6’2” and weighs in at 235 pounds. Much like Tufele, Bachie will fight for a spot at the bottom of the roster against rookies and other vets.
This is exactly what to expect post draft, adding low risk veterans that are at worst camp bodies, and at best rotational pieces to ensure our starters don’t log too many snaps and get injured. Only time will tell if the Lions are done!
